Snowmaggedon??

Groundhogs Day Storm
Snowmaggedon
Etc.

OK...so they are forecasting for a huge, historic snow storm for SE MI starting tonight with round 1 (2-4") and again tomorrow evening through Wed AM adding another 10" - 15" inches of snow!!  We'll see if this seriously happens.

There are going to be blizzard warnings because the wind is going to be whipping and temps dropping.  They are calling this thing a dangerous, destructive storm.  Kind of exciting, but nerve wrecking at the same time - mostly worried about losing power!  1/3 of the US is impacted by this storm, so it could get ugly!

IF we get the 10" - 15" they are forecasting, it would be in the Top 5 snow storms ever to hit Detroit - pretty crazy!

I'll post (with pictures) if this thing really happens.  Secretly, I'm crossing my fingers for a snow day or two!!!!

15 Months!

Our little girl is 15 months old!  CRAZY!  We had her well baby check-up on Friday.  Here are the highlights:

  • 25 lbs. 5 ozs. - 84th percentile
  • Height = Unknown :)  They messed up the measurement and said she was 30" - meaning she actually shrunk.
  • Head = 18.5"
  • Only 1 shot!  Yeah!  DTap.
  • She had a little bit of eczema on her back that the doc prescribed us some steroid cream for.  It's already getting better!!
  • We have a perfectly healthy little girl :)
She is eating 100% people food, drinking all whole milk now, we have weaned her off of her mid-day bottle (as of this weekend), she drinks milk at lunch and dinner, still sleeps about 12 hours a day plus usually 2 naps (an hour or so each).  No walking yet, but she's getting soooo close - I seriously think that this is going to be the month.  Wait, I think I've said that before...haha!

She's starting to babble non stop now with even a few recognizable words (I think):
  • "gogg" for dog
  • "cook" for book
  • "shooooeeezzz" for shoes
  • "caa-caa"
Every day is something new and exciting in her world and it's so amazing to be a part of it :)  We are blessed to be her parents!

Bloody Nose

Last night, I was rocking Taylor for a minute after reading her a bedtime story, just like normal.  Sometimes she will sit there and play with my hair, or try to pull my glasses off, anything to avoid the inevitable of going to bed :)

Well, I guess she got curious (and fast!) because she jammed her finger so far up my left nostril that I started gushing blood.  It hurt soooo bad!  My eyes teared up and everything!  I must have looked really awkard because I was one-handedly trying to put Taylor in her crib while tilting my head back and holding my other hand under my nose to prevent getting blood on the carpet.

It was an eventful bedtime to say the least.  And one I would not like to repeat.  Ever.  That hurt!!!!!

SUPERBOWL!!!!

The Packers are going to the Superbowl!  Woo-hoo!  After an exciting game vs. the Chicago Bears, Green Bay is headed to their 5th Superbowl in franchise history.  So exciting!  We watched the game at Mom & Dad's and we were all nervous wrecks!  I can't wait for Sunday the 6th to get her!  EXCITING!!!!

In other news, I got to take Taylor to a play group on Wednesday night at the Early Childhood Center.  It was probably geared to kids a little bit older than Taylor, but we got to play on some Little Tike toys and in the play room for the first hour, then washed hands and had a snack (graham cracker sticks and applesauce), then had story and song time.  It felt really good to get to do a "mommy" thing with my little girl!  I sometimes feel like I miss so much of that stuff, so I got to feel really connected and I loved it!  Margie runs the play group so at least there was a familiar face.

Taylor turns 15 months old on Friday - yikes!  I feel like the 2nd year is going even faster than the first!

That's it for now!

Oops...

It's been a few weeks since I posted anything!

We have been trying to get back in the swing of things after the holidays.  I can't believe it's mid-January already!  Craziness!  Taylor is still doing great.  Making lots and lots of progress lately and I bet she'll be walking in no time :)

Mom, Dad & Doug went on a Caribbean cruise last week.  Since Grumpa wasn't going to be in town for Taylor Tuesday or Owen days, we had to get creative!  On Monday, I worked from home while Zack was here because we had Owen and Taylor!  He was a really good boy the whole day and the kiddos got along really well.  They kept both trying to get into the Cozy Coupe at the same time :)  So cute!!

Our past 2 weekends have been consumed with Green Bay Packers football!  Last weekend, they beat Philadelphia, and then Saturday they creamed the Atlanta Falcons 48-21!  Next up, da Bears in the NFC Championship!  Woo-hoo!

Last weekend, Zack and I enjoyed a date night at Flemings Steakhouse in downtown Birmingham.  We had a nice meal thanks to a gift card I got :)

That's about it - not much to report :)

Almost walking!

Little Miss Taylor is getting sooooo close to walking!  Today, she walked across the whole living room while pushing her walker toy.  She seemed pretty comfortable with it!  We'll keep working with her and I'm sure she'll be walking around on her own in no time!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!  It's 2011!!  The Stephens rang in the new year at home.  We couldn't find a babysitter, which is actually fine by me :)  So instead of going out to some fancy party, we spent the evening at home with our little family.  It was perfection!

After Taylor's bath and bedtime, Zack and I enjoyed a few adult beverages and some Trivial Pursuit 90's (which I won!) and then some Yahtzee (which I ALSO won!).  The games took us until just about midnight when we watched Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest drop the ball.

It was a perfect way to ring in a new year!  2010 was pretty great: a whole calendar year with our baby girl, new house, new job for me and most importantly, health!  Here's to 2011 and all it may bring :)
