Zack and I headed north to Traverse City this weekend for Shannon & Tom Owen's wedding! We certainly missed Taylor, but enjoyed our brief get away.
We headed up on Saturday morning bright and early. We dropped Taylor off at Mom & Dad's around 8:30 and were on the road by 9. It rained the ENTIRE time up north. We were nervous for their outdoor vineyard wedding at 4:30!! We checked in to the hotel, got some lunch, then had some time to relax and take our time getting ready.
The day started off with a pre-ceremony reception of wine and cookies at the Grey Hare Inn (bed & breakfast) where the wedding was taking place. All of the guests gathered outside and relaxed prior to the ceremony starting. I got to sneak in and say hi to the beautiful bride :)
Being the planner that she is, Shannon had a clear tent up over the guests seating area, hence why there is a pole in all of my pictures :) The weather held out just long enough for their ceremony and the sun even peaked out as they were saying their vows!
After the ceremony we headed right over to the Traverse City Opera House downtown TC for the reception. There was a cocktail hour and appetizers in the lobby of the opera house. What a great venue! Shannon really, really paid attention to all of the details!! The building itself was gorgeous and such a unique spot for a reception. After the cocktail hour, the doors opened and we went in for dinner. At our table was Suz & Sam, Bri & Abby, and the photo booth people :) Dinner was fabulous! Following dinner was a slideshow that Carla made - happy to report I was in it quite a bit :) Lots of blast from the past pictures that I forgot even existed!! The rest of the reception was so much fun! Some of my favorite details: the red headed cake topper, the "O's", the wine glass favor with a "Shannon & Tom 10-2-10" charm, the card box, the Jets Pizza buffet, and much more!
Zack, Sam and Daniel became BFF's - it was so fun! They really hit it off and had a great time hanging out. They were even calling eachother BFF by the end of the night! So funny!
Sunday morning, Tom & Shannon hosted an open house at their home. I hadn't been there before, so I loved going to see it and taking the tour. What a unique custom home. It's beautiful! After the open house, we hit the road and headed home. I even made Zack listen to the Packers vs. Lions game a little bit :)
What a great weekend celebrating great friends!
